Farm and stock pond construction near Rockwall, TX — sited for watershed, built with a compacted clay dam core and spillway to hold water year-round.
Pond Construction
Pond digging, excavation and cleanout near Rockwall, TX. Basins dug to depth, silted ponds cleaned out and leaking dams rebuilt with a clay core.
Pond digging covers the excavation itself — new basins dug to depth, silted-in ponds cleaned out, and dams reshaped or rebuilt when they’re leaking.
Our Cat and Komatsu excavators handle basin digging and dam work, and because the same crew grades banks and moves material on site, the job goes from dig to finished pond without a second contractor.
Our process
Pond Digging & Excavation follows the same proven pond construction process:
We walk the property to find the best pond site based on drainage, watershed area, and soil conditions, since the pond has to sit where it can reach an impervious clay layer that will actually hold water. You get a written estimate based on the size and depth of pond you want.
We lay out the pond basin, dam location, and spillway based on how much water the site’s watershed will actually deliver, so the pond fills reliably without a dam that’s oversized or undersized for the job.
Our crew digs the basin and cuts a keyway trench into the impervious layer at the dam site, backfilling it with clay in compacted lifts to build a core that prevents seepage — the step that determines whether a pond holds water long-term.
We build up the front and rear slopes of the dam around the core and cut a spillway sized to handle overflow during heavy rain, so the dam holds up instead of washing out in the next big storm.
We grade the banks, clean up the site, and walk the finished pond with you before you fill and stock it — a functioning farm or stock pond instead of a dry hole or a leaking one.
